Retro-digitisation

From paper to database

Retro-digitisation: From paper to database

Our daily business for the media of Axel Springer SE: Transferring text from the analogue world into the digital one. You can benefit from this process as well. We provide long-term experience in managing extensive digitisation projects. We will advise you on data structure, data formats, and project timetable. We will create the concept for you, support you with our know-how in archive-related questions, and carry out the digitisation process in cooperation with an experienced scanning service provider.

This process includes the following steps:

  • Verification and preparation of materials/documents and coordination of your targets
  • Digital registration and preparation / scanning in accordance with the requirements of your presentation system
  • Quality control and corrections
  • Data delivery to you

The challenge during this process: text reliability. In the end, your digitised data must be flawlessly available in your presentation system. So that “Politics” do not become “Poltics”. That is the only way the content of the material can be registered without errors. It is for this purpose that we use all our technical experience and skills.

Expertise in the digitisation of large media portfolios

Newspaper pages especially pose certain challenges to a retro-digitisation process, in terms of different qualities of the samples as well as due to the complex layout of individual issues. For example, we have digitised the complete collection of BILD and BILD am SONNTAG newspapers since 1952. For the editorial boards, this data treasure is now completely searchable and linked with lock flags and cease-and-desist declarations for legal compliance.

If you would like to find out more about how we can support you in digitally archiving your portfolio, reach out to us by telephone or e-mail. We will gladly provide you with further information to discuss what we can do to help you.
